The listing is another sign of potential growth to Steven Jewels, sales agent at ReMax Flagstaff, which is on pace this year to double its sales revenue in all of 2011.
Flagler County’s second-most expensive home, a villa at 3100 Painters Walk, is for sale for $2.8 million, and to ReMax Flagstaff family sales team Steven, Jennifer and Chance Jewels, its listing marks yet another sign of potential growth in Flagler’s real estate industry.
“People think the market sucks,” Steven Jewels said. “But (it’s) really turning. We’re selling a lot of property, and high-end stuff.”
Jewels calls the 6,574-square-foot home on Painters Walk, which faces the beach and backs up to the Intracoastal, “magnificent.” All of its furniture must be custom-made, he says, to accommodate the massive space. And it cost so much to build, he added, that it wouldn’t be able to be replicated today for any less than $5 million.
“It’s a real gem of Flagler,” he said.
A replica of a traditional Tuscan “villa pittori colina” (Italian for “house on the hill”), the home also has a private art collection of more than 40 pieces, which will be sold in a silent auction 7-10 p.m. Thursday, July 26.
“With this type of (mostly Italian) art, the frames are worth more than a lot of people would spend a lot of (actual) pieces,” Jewels said. “It will be a big event.”
Mercedes-Benz even plans to attend the auction with its new car line. A portion of the event’s proceeds will also be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
“(The real estate market) is not what people think or see on the news,” Jewels added. “We are prospering, and our company is growing.”
Halfway through 2012, he says, his company has already exceeded all of what it made in revenue last year — not including the sale of this home.
“The market is just growing exponentially,” he said, noting that, along with million-dollar homes, his family also has inexpensive listings in Daytona North. “It all sells.”
Compared to this time last year, Jewels also estimates that prices for property in Flagler have increased up to 15%.
“Right now, if you had a ($40,000 to $50,000) lot in Flagler Beach,” he predicted, “a year, 14 months down the road, it’ll double. That’s where it’s going. It’s going back. … You can’t go wrong if you own a piece of land.”
And that’s exactly the mindset he’s been seeing in local investors. According to Jewels, the trend is all over Flagler.
“The money that’s out there, it would blow your mind,” he said. “Money doesn’t go away, it just changes hands. … And, right now, the people who have the money are buying real estate.”
Auction for art
An auction of more than 40 pieces of art will be held at the Flagler Beach home July 26. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
