The Flagler County chapter of the Ronald Reagan Republican Assemblies of Florida has paid a $1,500 fine to the Florida Elections Commission for failing to register as a political committee and to report campaign contributions and expenditures last year.

The chapter’s president, Robert Hamby, said the chapter's leadership didn’t realize they were required to file separately from the larger state organization.

“We’re a new organization, and did not understand exactly what the requirements were because our state organization is registered already,” he said. “It was a mistake of ignorance, and we learned our lesson and won’t do it again.”

The complaint against the Flagler chapter of the Ronald Reagan Republican Assemblies of Florida was filed in December 2012, and the fine was paid in June 2013.
