The Florida Department of Education on June 10 released state assessment test scores.
The percentage of Flagler County students getting scores of three or higher was scored higher than the state average in Florida State Assessment English language arts and math tests at all grade levels.
“While there is always room for improvement,” Superintendent of Schools Jacob Oliva said in a school district news release, “what’s encouraging is, in English Language Arts, we have exceeded the state average of Level 3 and above at every grade level. In math, we either met or exceeded the grade level state average for students scoring 3 and above at every level.”
Scores on the Florida State Assessment tests are graded from one to five, with one being the lowest score and five the highest.
Flagler County students also made gains in civics and eighth grade science end of course exams.
"We look for trends and we’ll use this data as we implement our continuous improvement model," Oliva said in the news release. "We’ll start planning for next year on areas we want to address.”

The Florida Standards Assessments test students in English Language Arts and mathematics. End of Course Exams test students in Science, Civics and U.S. History.
