Flagler sergeant awarded for 'outstanding service'

A sergeant for the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a medal for outstanding service, according to a release by the sheriff’s office.

Sgt. Mike Lutz was presented with a medal for his service as an outstanding law enforcement officer by the Flagler Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution on the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 25.

Lutz has served as a law enforcement officer for the past 35 years, including 20 years with the New York Police Department. He has worked with the FCSO since 2003.

Lutz’s responsibilities include supervising the marine/dive unit, the Crisis Negotiation Team, the Neighborhood Watch program and the Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy. In addition, he is also a member of the Critical Incident Management Team.

“It’s Sgt. Lutz’ hard work and dedication that has made every program he has created or been involved in a success,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release.
