While Flagler County is not expected to feel the effects of Irma until later in the weekend, Superintendent Tager said giving residents time to prepare is important.

“Out of an abundance of caution, I want to give our families the additional time to prepare their homes for this storm or to evacuate if they feel that decision is in their best interest,” Tager said in the release.

In addition, all after-school activities originally scheduled for Friday and Monday, as well as all weekend activities, have been canceled.
