George D. Bertish

  • Branch of military: U.S. Army
  • Dates of Service: 1963–1986
  • Rank / Occupation: Lieutenant Colonel / Artillery Officer
  • Hometown: Born Vienna, Austria

George Hertish came to America at the age of 5, when his family escaped Germany. He served his adopted country with honor for 23 years, which included multiple combat tours in Vietnam.

He is past president of MOAA Flagler Chapter and former member of the county’s Veterans Advisory Council, where he made important contributions of thought and deed. He recently moved into the Clyde Lassen State Veterans Nursing Home in St. Augustine, and is doing quite well.
