The June 2011 unemployment rate was 14.6% in Flagler County.

Nonagricultural employment in the Palm Coast metro area (Flagler County) was 17,700 in June 2011. Total nonagricultural employment decreased by 1.7% (-300 jobs) over the year. Statewide, employment increased by 0.5% over the same time period.

Education and health services, and trade, transportation, and utilities (+100 jobs each) were the only major sectors that gained jobs over the year. Mining, logging, and construction, manufacturing, financial activities, leisure and hospitality and other services remained unchanged over the year.

Government, and professional and business services showed a loss of 200 jobs each over the year. Information (-100 jobs) also lost jobs over the year. The loss of government jobs was due primarily to the Federal government no longer employing temporary Census workers who were working last year.

Education and health services (+4.2%) and trade, transportation and utilities (+2.9%) grew faster in the Palm Coast metro area than in the state.
