As president of the Flagler County Republican Club, I was recently notified by our new Republican Executive Committee chairwoman, Anne-Marie Shaffer, of her refusal to renew our operating charters for the 2015-2016 term. I offer my opinion on the matter.

Charter renewals for active party-supportive clubs are essentially matters of perfunctory bi-annual administrative diligence. Our Republican Club is a vibrant entity that has been the source of workers, funding, outreach and general and specific party support. We have provided the workers and resources for most of the work of the party here for many years — all of this in full support of and in cooperation with our county party apparatus.

Our club has operated in good faith by the rules and has been effective — always in full compliant support of our Republican Party. I have challenged these moves against us in the strongest terms to the highest levels within our party.

I expect timely resolution of these disputes that will facilitate our club moving forward for our members, voters and party. We are open for business and expect to remain open all the way through this entire 2016 election cycle.

Come join us for the very best most informative monthly speakers and even better Republican fellowship. Visit www.flaglergop.org for current information about meeting dates, times and places. And, please be sure to vote on April 7 for our Republican Candidates for Florida House District 24 and Senate District 6.
