Flagler County Detention Facility housing record-high number of inmates
The Flagler County Detention Facility has reached a record-high number of currently housed inmates, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
There are 243 inmates as of Friday, June 8. The majority of the inmates are between the ages of 22 to 40, and the majority are male. The average stay of a single inmate is about 85 days.
The jail is currently at 60% capacity.
“Our team works hard to get these criminals off the streets and behind bars to keep our community safe,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release. “The number we will never know is how many crimes have been prevented by our deputies getting these offenders off the streets.”
