The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners will vote at its regular Monday meeting whether or not to approve a $2,094,880 Economic Development Transportation Fund grant agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for renovations at the county airport.

The proposed changes include extending a canal on airport property to Belle Terre Boulevard — a project that would need to be completed before an April deadline — road work, and the addition of at least one, and possibly two, runways that could help clear airport traffic more efficiently and give pilots more options when taking off and landing in different wind conditions.

The changes would help pave the way for the arrival of aviation engineering firm Aveo, which has agreed to lease the airport and install a hangar and manufacturing facility.
