Paintings, sculptures, mixed-media pieces and photographs will be displayed Saturday at the Flagler County Art League gallery in City Marketplace for the opening reception of the league’s second art show of the season.

A quartet from the Flagler Youth Orchestra will play classical music while visitors view the artwork and dig into the reception’s free food and wine. The reception will be 6-9 p.m. at the gallery at 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite 207C.

“This promises to be a very special night for the Flagler County Art League,” FCAL President Ann DeLucia said in a press release. “Come sip some wine with fellow artists, mingle with friends, family and the community, and come and support the arts by purchasing some beautiful local art! Don't miss this evening!"

The Flagler County Art League is also preparing to host a series of new workshops — including classes on photography, figure painting and silk painting — and is adding a special discount rate for students 17 and older who are studying art.

“We have 20 workshops going on between now and May,” Flagler County Art League spokeswoman Joyce Gatonska said. “The more people we can get in to experience the arts through the education programs, the better.”

Current classes offered by the league include a polymer clay class and a class on creating artwork from found objects. For more information of the Flagler County Art League’s art shows, classes or workshops, visit http://www.flaglercountyartleague.com or call 986-4668.
