Flagler Beach Police Department officers checking into a business alarm that went off at 1:25 a.m. Aug. 9 at the Shall gas station at 700 Oceanshore Boulevard in Flagler Beach found the convenience store's door unlocked and the store burglarized.

Officers reviewed footage which showed the burglar, according to a Flagler Beach Police Department news release.  Flagler Beach Police Sergeant David Arcieri Jr. found the suspect, 20-year-old Christopher John Dugent Jr., at about 8:05 p.m. the next day in the 200 block of Oceanshore Boulevard.

"The suspect in this case hid inside the business and waited until well after the store closed to rummage through the business” Flagler Beach Police Captain Matt Doughney said in a news release.

Detective Liz Williams interviewed Dugent, and Dugent was charged with grand theft and taken to the Flagler County jail.

"I’m extremely proud of the effort put in by everyone involved in this case," Doughney said. "The suspect committed the Burglary early Sunday morning and by late Monday night he’s been located, interviewed and arrested for his crime by our Officers. I think that’s great Police work."
