Five people have filed for city of Palm Coast or Flagler County-wide elected office for 2022.

Three candidates have filed for County Commission: Victor Barbosa, currently a Palm Coast City Councilman, has filed for the District 2 County Commission seat; incumbent District 4 Commissioner Joe Mullins has filed for reelection; and Jane Gentile-Youd has filed to challenge Mullins for the District 4 seat.

Although Barbosa was elected to the Palm Coast City Council in 2020 and City Council terms are usually four years, his term is up in 2022: He was elected to the seat in a special election held after former District 2 Councilman Jack Howell left partway through his term for health reasons. Barbosa, running for the County Commission seat currently held by Commissioner Greg Hansen, said he believed his time on the City Council would help him serve as a bridge between the city and the county.

In Palm Coast, only one person has filed for City Council: Alan Lowe, who's running for the District 2 seat held by Barbosa. Lowe ran for mayor in 2020, losing to incumbent Melissa Holland.

Only one person has filed for School Board: Randy Bertrand, who led a movement to add "gender identity" to the school district nondiscrimination policy's list of protected characteristics after his son came out as transgender. (The board, after initial resistance, added the language in December 2020). Bertrand is running for the District 4 seat currently held by Trevor Tucker.
