The Flagler County Art League galley spilled over with art enthusiasts Saturday evening at the opening of its June show “Through the Eyes of a Child.”

The show was judged by Justine Wintersmith and with Best of Show being awarded to Helene and Eric Bess for their mixed media piece “Hope.”

“I chose ‘Hope’ not only for its level of technical skill, but its message,” Wintersmith wrote in her judge’s comments. “The luminous eyes of the child reflect a world of possibilities and potential growth.”

Other winners in the FCAL show are as follows: First of Show, “Tale of The Three Legged Pig” pastel drawing by Jan Jackson; Second of Show, “One Year Older” mixed media by Judi Wormeck; Third of Show, “Hide & Seek, Green Delight” photography by Carol Thomas; and Award of Distinction, “Oh-Live-A lot-Bird of Paradise” mixed media sculpture by Wendy Berg.

The Photography Club of Flagler County also held an opening for its 2014 Photography Exhibit at the art league. The juried show was the first ever show by the club.

Best of Show was awarded to Bonnie Siamon for her photograph “Beach in Fog.”
