Palm Coast’s beautiful waterways and signature signage, happy children at play, scenes from nature and wildlife, and the Wings Over Flagler air show are among the winning images in the Palm Coast Find Your Florida 2015 Photography Contest.

Winners will be awarded gift certificates to local businesses and recognized at the Aug. 4 Palm Coast City Council meeting. Winning photographs will be displayed at a city facility.

The 2015 winners are first place: “Our Children Reading in the City” by Duane Van Horn; second place: “Shame in You” by James Cacciatore; third place: “Almost Heaven” by Martha Garito; and honorable mentions: “Formation ‘Wings Over Flagler’ Air Show” by Marcia Jewell “Feeling at Home at the Town Center Palm Coast” by Van Horn, “On Jungle Gym” by Britney Iasimone, “Canopy Walk” by Kelly Hay, “International Wine Festival” by Joan Twing, “Our Great Horned Owls” by Van Horn, “Family of Three” by Kacie Dragstedt, and “Easter Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly” by Martha Garito.

Winners were selected by the city of Palm Coast Brand Plus Team (branding and social media) in blind judging. There were 270 submissions that met the qualifications of the contest, from 76 photographers.
The city also held a separate photo contest for employees and their immediate families.The winners of that contest were first place: “Family on the Trail” by Lucy Nabico; second place: “Child on the Gator” by Nabico; third place: “Rail & Trail” by Larry Fitzgerald; and honorable mentions: “Quidditch Play” by Heather Priestap, “Kayaker on the Intracoastal” by Fitzgerald, “Quiet Canal” by Fitzgerald, “Marina-a-Plenty” by Tom Hanson, “Dawn Watch at Spray Fields” by Hanson, and “A View of the Intracoastal Through the Trees” by Nabico.

“The Find Your Florida Photo Contest is in its third year, and it has become a fun family tradition,” said Cindi Lane, Palm Coast Communications & Marketing Manager. “We receive hundreds of excellent photos that showcase what makes Palm Coast special – the people, the natural environment and community spirit. Our goal with the annual contest is to build community and give photographers an opportunity to share their talents, while also providing the city new photos to use for promoting our beautiful community. The judges had a very difficult time selecting just a few winners. Thank you to all the photographers who entered their work.”
