The fight against crime just gained another tool that allows residents to be even more involved.
As a way to save time and money, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office now has an online reporting system. Residents can visit the website, www.myfcso.us, and click on the “Coplogic” logo to report several types of crimes without ever having to pick up the phone.
Flagler County joins nine other Florida municipalities (including Volusia County) to employ Coplogic.
The system is for incidents that fit the following criteria, taken from the website:
-This is not an emergency.
-This incident occurred within Flagler County, excluding the cities of Bunnell and Flagler Beach.
-There are no known suspects.
-If you are unsure, please contact the Flagler County Sheriff's Office at (386) 313-4911.
The following types of reports can be filed — all without having a deputy arrive at a resident’s home:
-Harrassing/obscene phone calls
-Lost property
-Mischief complaint
-Solicitor
-Theft
-Property damage
-Identity theft
-Vandalism
According to Sheriff Donald Fleming, the system had a trial run in March and was used by about 30 people. The system is another way Fleming is trying to use the agency’s time wisely.
Even the simplest reports, with travel time, eat up “a man hour,” Fleming said. He repeated, however, that it’s best to call if there are any doubts.
