Operation CARE Wave gets results In Flagler.
On Nov. 24 through Nov. 28, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office participated in Operation C.A.R.E. Wave, a county and statewide traffic enforcement operation focusing on Crash Awareness and Reduction Efforts in an effort to keep the roadways safe throughout the holiday weekend.
During the five day agency-wide traffic operation, the members of the FCSO Motor/Traffic Unit and Community Policing Division reported making a total of 355 traffic stops, resulting in 32 citations, and 20 arrests. Four of the arrests were a result of traffic stops leading to the discovery of an Out of County Warrant, No Driver’s License, a Flagler County Warrant, and Possession of Drugs and Firearm by Convicted Felon. The FCSO also responded to 33 vehicle crashes, including 23 without injuries, 6 with injuries, and four hit and runs.
“The holiday weekend’s Operation CARE was a success and our Traffic/Motors Unit and patrols were hard at work keeping our roadways safer in Flagler County with the increased traffic that occurred,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “The purpose of Operation CARE is to remind the community that reckless driving behaviors are extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated. Great job to all the deputies who were able to identify the criminals arrested over the holiday and gave them a room at the Green Roof Inn to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and you stay safe as we go into a busy holiday season! Remember that if you see something suspicious, say something by calling 386-313-4911.”
