The following is adapted from a press release from Flagler County:

A father and his daughter were hospitalized for smoke inhalation, and six dogs, including two puppies, were rescued after a house fire broke out at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, at 6 Llach Court in southern Palm Coast.

The man was repairing a refrigerator in the garage of the two-story home when the appliance caught fire. After he was unable to put the flames out himself, he ran inside to get his daughter and called 911.

Flagler County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene first and contained the fire to the garage with help from the Palm Coast Fire Department. There was smoke damage throughout the house.

“We transported the father and his daughter by ambulance to Florida Hospital Flagler,” Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said. “We were able to revive all of the dogs with oxygen masks made specifically for household pets.”

Information about the identity of the father and daughter and their current condition is not available.

The Fire Marshal has been notified to investigate.
