Don't text and drive
Driving into ditch. TTYL.
A 16-year-old driver was asked whether she texts while driving. She said she does, but only when the road is straight. Isn’t that OK?
The presentation, which was paid for by local Allstate agent Steven Brown, allowed 135 students to test out the dangers through a simulator.
Students were invited to sit in a real car, with a real steering wheel and gas pedal, while wearing simulator glasses. Each student received a test message and was instructed to read and reply while driving in the simulator.
After their simulation, Olsen said he was pleased with how seriously the FPC students were taking the presentations.
There are currently no laws here about texting and driving, making Florida one of the only states on the East Coast without any phone laws. But changes may be in the very near future, Olson said.
