Detectives with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the overnight burglary of the Dollar General store located on eastbound Palm Coast Parkway.

Deputies responded to a commercial burglary alarm at the store around 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

When they arrived to the scene, they found the front doors smashed and opened. The doors appeared to have been hit more than 40 times by some type of metal object. Deputies found a white plastic garbage bag at the entrance to the store and another matching garbage bag near the cigarette display on the employee side of the front register, the report states.

A store video shows a white male, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt with black gloves and wearing cut-off blue denim jeans and light-colored sneakers entering the business through the front door. The man appears to have a medium to large build and stands about 6 feet tall.

He is seen on the video jumping onto the counter, then jumping behind the counter, holding a garbage bag. He then attempts to break the cigarette display case and when that is unsuccessful, he jumps back over the counter and runs out of the store. He is last observed on the video riding away on a mountain bike. Damage to the store was estimated at $5,000, the report states.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 313-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
