Deputies search for suspect after shots fired incident

Anyone who has seen 23-year-old Spencer Sarmento is asked to call 911 immediately. He's believed to be armed with an assault-style weapon.

The following is a news release from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office:

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 7, 2015, from a caller stating a shooting had taken place at 4571 Canal Street in Bunnell. No one was injured, but a suspected shooter is still on the loose.

According to the details of the investigation, following a disagreement over auto parts, two suspects came to 4571 Canal Street armed with assault-type weapons. One of the suspects fired multiple shots into an unoccupied vehicle while in the close proximity of several individuals.

The suspects fled the scene and were not immediately apprehended. Based on information gathered in the investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for a home located at 4657 Canal Street.

With the assistance of the FCSO’s SWAT team, entry was made to the home and one of the suspects was arrested without incident. He has been identified as 19-year-old Dacotah W. Clarke of 4657 Canal Street in Bunnell.

He has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has been booked into the Flagler County jail. He is being held on $12,500 bail. An AR-15 type weapon was recovered at the time of Clarke’s arrest.

The shooter, who has been identified as Spencer Sarmento, a 23-year-old man who lives at 4657 Canal Street, was last seen in the area armed with an assault-style weapon.

Sacramento is approximately 5’06” and 136 pounds. Sarmento is currently wanted on multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Additional charges are also expected as the investigation continues.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Sarmento is asked to call 911 immediately.

Callers can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
