Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a shooting on White Star Drive in Palm Coast the morning of Oct. 16, according to an FCSO news release.

Deputies responded to White Star Drive just after 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 16 and found an adult inside of a vehicle with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to the hospital with the assistance of Volusia County Sheriff’s Air One emergency helicopter, according to the news release. Deputies, detectives and crime scene investigators are on scene conducting the investigation.

“This is an active investigation in the beginning stages,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in the news release. “While we are still collecting the details of what occurred, we do believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.”

A portion of White Star Drive will be temporarily closed while the investigation is ongoing. The Flagler County Bus Garage has been notified of the road closure in order to re-route school buses for Tuesday morning.

The FCSO will release more details as the investigation advances, according to the news release.
