A woman was arrested on the night of Monday, Nov. 5, after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend during an argument, according to a charging affidavit by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Monique Nicole Garcia, 35, and her boyfriend got into an argument over sexual issues between them at their residence on Wood Clift Lane in Palm Coast. The verbal argument became physical when Garcia ran to the kitchen and grabbed a large knife.

Garcia stabbed her boyfriend in the neck and back and also left slice wounds on his left hand and torso as he tried to leave the house.

The victim was able to eventually leave the house and call 911. He made contact with deputies down the road at about 10:30 p.m. He was taken to Halifax Health to treat his injuries.

Garcia was arrested by deputies and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler with minor injuries before she was taken to the Flagler County Jail, where she is being held without bond.

The couple told deputies that they had a history of domestic violence, according to the affidavit.

“This shows the danger of staying in a violent relationship – slowly the strength of these fights increases until someone gets seriously injured or killed," Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release. "Luckily, this time, no lives were lost. Violence is not the answer.”

The investigation into this case is ongoing.
