Crime in Flagler County dropped 22% from 2017 to 2018, Sheriff Office says

In addition, violent crime is down 16.3%, according to the report.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office submitted the 2018 Uniform Crime Report to the Florida Department of Law enforcement, which shows all the data collected for crimes that were reported in 2018 in the county. The report showed that crime statistics in FCSO's primary jurisdiction decreased significantly between 2017 and 2018, according to a news release by the Sheriff's Office.

Total Index Crimes are down 22% from 2017. Violent crime (murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault) is down 16.3%, and property crime (burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft) is down 24.7%. However, arrests are up 15%, and clearances of reported crime is up more than 32%.

“We have a terrific motivated team serving the community, and I attribute the reduction in crime and the increase in arrests to their proactive police work, engaging and partnering with the community and the new initiatives that we have implemented since I became Sheriff two years ago,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in a release. “Our crime fighting strategy is working."

In addition to releasing the results of the 2018 crime statistics, FCSO has also made the 2018 Annual Report available electronically. The 2018 Annual Report shows initiatives achieved by the FCSO month-by-month in 2018.
