Crash on Royal Palms Parkway causes power outage

The driver crashed into a power pole.

A crash at Royal Palms Parkway and Rickenbacker Drive early the morning of Saturday, Oct. 27, resulted in a power outage to the surrounding area, according to a report by Florida Highway Patrol.

Nicole Qualls, 28, of Palm Coast, was driving along Royal Palms Parkway around 1:13 a.m. when her 2008 Lexus ES 350 veered off the roadway and crashed into a power pole and then into a fence. She, and her 56-year-old passenger Joanne Ruggiero, of Tolland, Connecticut, were taken to Florida Hospital Flagler with minor injuries.

Qualls was charged with careless driving.

Florida Power and Light was on-scene at 4:20 a.m. to restore power to the affected area.
