Wet bandit wannabe floods house, causes $5,000 in damage

8:08 p.m. First block of Westbrook Lane. Burglary: A cleaning lady entered an empty home to work, and found the laundry room floor flooded with an inch or two of water. When she checked the sink, she could see why: Someone had turned on the tap and then blocked the drain with a pan. The woman turned off the water and called a property manager, who helped her vacuum up the water, and also called the homeowner, a 48-year-old woman who lives in North Carolina and rents out the house to vacationers. A hidden spare key was missing, and the water caused about $5,000 damage to the home's kitchen cabinets.
