Three unlocked cars burglarized on one street
11:45 a.m.: First block of Village Lane. Burglary of a vehicle: A 51-year-old man parked his white 2010 Jeep Wrangler in his driveway overnight, and left it unlocked. He went out to the car the next morning and noticed that someone had entered the car and rummaged around in the center console. Nothing was stolen. A deputy investigating the case canvassed the area and discovered two other car burglaries, both also of unlocked cars on Village Lane. One belonged to a 57-year-old woman, and nothing was stolen. The other belonged to a 56-year-old man. In that case, the burglar stole a plastic bag of change containing about $15 worth of coins. The car was locked when the deputy checked it, but there were no signs of forced entry, leading the deputy to write in a case report that it appeared that the car had been left unlocked and had been locked by the burglar.
Man borrows girlfriend's car, 'rents' it to stranger for money
9:50 a.m. First block of Burning Sands Drive. Stolen vehicle: A 25-year-old woman told a deputy she'd loaned her then-boyfriend her 1997 Toyota Corolla on Oct. 21, asking him to return it that evening. He didn't return it. He wouldn't return her calls for two days; then, when she finally got him on the line and told him to return the car, he "told her (he) gave the vehicle to someone only known to him as 'Blue' because he needed money," and that he did not know where the car was, the deputy wrote in a case report. The woman told the deputy she wanted to pursue charges, and charges were signed against the man for grand theft.
