But after they'd unloaded their materials, they realized that a thief had made off with two spools of MC cable, each of them worth up to $1,000. The men also found two rear doors of the unfinished unit unlocked. There were no known witnesses, according to a deputy's report.

Thief breaks into car and steals five iPads, but none work

8:01 p.m. First block of Pope Lane. Burglary of a vehicle: The thief who broke into a local man's car probably thought they'd hit the jackpot: They made off with an Asus Transformer tablet and five iPads. But they might've felt a bit less lucky when they tried to actually turn the gadgets on: None of them works. The iPads belonged to a local school, and the man whose car the thief burgled was an employee tasked with fixing them. The Asus was broken, too. The man noticed the theft when he walked outside in the morning to go to work and saw that all of the car's doors were open and the inside looked disheveled, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
