March 21

The suspicious Sawzall

1:31 p.m. First block of Shady Lane.

Criminal mischief. A woman sold her roommate a Milwaukee Sawzall reciprocating saw for $25 on March 17. The roommate, suspicious, asked if it was stolen, but the woman insisted it wasn't.

On March 21, a man came driving by the house, and the roommate asked him what he was doing. The man said he was looking for the woman, because he'd loaned her a Sawzall and never got it back.

The roommate showed the man the $25 Sawzall and asked if it was the same one, and he confirmed that it was.

The roommate confronted the woman, but she left. One of the people involved contacted the FCSO, and a deputy stopped the woman's car.

She asked him if the stop had anything to do with the Sawzall. When he said it did, the woman admitted that she'd been loaned the Sawzall but had sold it for drinking money. The deputy arrested her.

On the fence

4:58 p.m. Bunnell.

Criminal mischief. A man arrived to his home and found that someone had painted graffiti on his PVC fence.

Three 8-foot sections, according to a deputy's report, were "painted with what appears to read '20 Happy Burn Year.'" Surrounding the text were painted flames in yellow, orange and red paint.

A no-trespassing sign on the property had also been painted.
