Sweet Dreams?

4:56 p.m. 100 Block of Cypress Point Parkway. Shoplifting.

An asset protection associate saw a woman in the men’s department with a memory foam mattress in her cart. She noticed him watching her and began to act nervous, he told a deputy. The she walked out of the store with the mattress and several other items — making no attempt to pay for any of them — and loaded them into a brown sedan and drove off.

The asset protection associate took down the tag number, and then reviewed the store’s surveillance video and saw that the woman had also taken two Halloween costumes and some makeup. He called the Sheriff’s Office, and a deputy went to the woman’s house. The deputy read the woman her Miranda warnings, and she provided a sworn statement and was issued a notice to appear. The total value of the stolen items was $167.37. The items were not recovered.

Running on fumes

2:40 p.m. 200 Block of Clubhouse Drive. Burglary.

A deputy was called out to Palm Coast Marina after someone entered a person’s boat and stole two full tanks of gas from a cubby near its bow.

The man said he recently filled both tanks and placed them back on the boat. He placed a cover over the boat Sunday, Oct. 20, and then left it. A friend walking by the boat Monday morning noticed the tanks missing and told the man about them. The man noticed that the console cover had been partially removed. Both of the missing tanks were Moeller brand tanks. One was a 6-gallon tank and the other was a 3-gallon tank. The tanks are valued at $160 including the fuel.

Cut it out

4:51 a.m. First Block of Big Bear Lane. Criminal Mischief.

A man walked outside to his car to go to work and noticed that both left tires and the right rear tire had been cut. His wife called a deputy. She said she hadn’t had any problems with anyone in the area and didn’t know who might have cut the tires, or why. She said she’d last seen the car, a gold Honda Accord, at about 6 p.m. the previous night when her husband came home from work.

The deputy checked the three tires and noted that each had cut marks consistent with a large sharp object like a knife. No other vehicles parked in the driveway were damaged, and no one else in the area reported any damage to other vehicles. Each tire is valued at about $80.
