The really, really wet bandits?
11:26 a.m. First block of Ponderosa Lane. Burglary: A 65-year-old man who'd recently bought a house and was repairing it went to the home and noticed that the shower and floor in the master bathroom were wet, as if someone had bathed there.
He contacted the Sheriff's Office, and a deputy noted that a piece of the home's screen was cut, and someone had pried open the bedroom's glass sliding door with a pry tool like a crowbar.
There was no other damage to the house, and nothing was stolen.
It only takes a few minutes
9:16 p.m. First block of Reidsville Drive. Burglary from vehicle: A 68-year-old woman left her car unlocked for about 10 minutes while she was inside her home, but when she came back out, she noticed that the car's dome light was on, and her purse — which she'd left in the center console — was missing.
It contained her cell phone, which was worth about $500, plus an electronic car key, $80 cash and her driver's license and credit cards. Altogether, the purse thief had made off with about $1,088 worth of property, according to a Sheriff's Office case report.
A deputy investigating the case wasn't able to get fingerprints from the car because the woman had already touched the car doors while opening and closing them.
