July 16

Making an impact

11:18 a.m. First block of Bradmore Lane. Attempted burglary.
A woman was home in bed in the early morning hours of July 16 when she “awoke to a loud bang, followed by another noise that seemed to come from the front of the house,” according to a deputy’s report.

She thought it was probably thunder, and went back to sleep.

But when she woke up the next morning and went outside, there was a shoe print on the front door.

The sound she’d heard, she told a deputy, must have been someone trying to kick it in.

The deputy wrote in a report that “the shoeprint appears to have been made by a right front leg kick with the sole of the foot striking the door.”

He photographed the shoe print and described it in the report, then canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses.

One area homeowner said she woke up at about 3-4 a.m. the previous night because she thought she heard her doorbell ring, but she wasn’t sure if she had actually heard it, or if she’d dreamed it.

The deputy requested an extra watch for the area.

Hook, line and sinker. And rod, and reel, and ….

2:46 p.m. First block of Cimmaron Drive. Larceny.
A C-Section resident went out his dock July 16 and discovered that someone had stolen five of his fishing rods and reels, as well as full tackle box worth about $70.

The stolen tackle included a 7-foot Falcon fishing rod with a Calcutta reel worth $400.00, a 6-foot fishing rod with a Penn spinning reel worth $150.00, another 6-foot fishing rod with pink flashing lights worth $30.00, a fishing rod with a spinning reel worth $45.00, and a 5-foot fishing rod with a Zebco reel worth $20.00, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

Flagler Beach police are searching for two men they believe have been stealing fishing and boating gear from docks, boats and backyards in the Flagler Beach and Palm Coast area. They have advised residents to secure their gear and to check their docks, boats and backyards for missing property.
