Gun stolen in Palm Coast a year ago found in Ohio

3:40 a.m. 200 Block of Shady Oaks Drive. Recovered firearm: Almost a year ago, around April 11 2015, someone broke into a 41-year-old Palm Coast man's car and stole a Rohrbaugh 9mm Stealth handgun registered to the man's wife. It has finally turned up — in Akron, Ohio, where police discovered it during a routine traffic stop, according to a Sheriff's Office report. Local deputies tried to contact the owner by going to his house and calling his phone, but they found that he'd moved and that his voicemail was full, so they haven't been able to tell him and his wife how to get the gun back. For now, Akron police are holding the firearm, worth $1,495, in their evidence locker.

Girls try to 'steal back' LED truck light they thought was stolen from brother

3:08 a.m. 100 block of Westhampton Lane. Attempted burglary: Two 13-year-old girls snuck out of their houses late at night to try to steal a truck LED light bar from a truck sitting in the driveway of a nearby house. The girls thought it had been stolen from one of the teen's brothers, whose own LED light bar had disappeared a few days before, according to a Sheriff's Office report. The brother had texted the sister to say that a person at a particular address had stolen his light bar, and the two girls went to that home with a screwdriver, found a truck with a light bar, and were trying to remove it when a man came out of the house and yelled at them. The girls ran, but deputies stopped them, and one still had the screwdriver in her hands. The girls explained what happened, and a deputy spoke to the owner of the truck they'd been tampering with, who showed a handwritten bill of sale for the light bar from its previous owner. The truck owner said he'd thought the girls were trying to get into the truck, and that he wanted to pursue charges. Deputies charged both girls with attempted burglary, according to the report. The girl who'd been carrying the screwdriver was also charged with possession of burglary tools.
