Marijuana at midnight
2:46 a.m. — Parkview Drive/ Plain View Drive. Narcotics. During a patrol of the area, a deputy observed a white male wearing black shorts and a white T-shirt walking out of the Frieda Zamba Park. The deputy asked the young man where he was headed and what he was doing coming out of the park at this hour. The 19-year-old male advised that he was sitting on the park benches and did not tell the deputy where he was headed.
The deputy conducted a search and located a clear plastic bag containing marijuana in his left pocket and a small multicolored glass pipe located in his left front pocket. The subject was placed in custody for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. The young man stated that he currently has no residence and just stays with friends or sleeps in parks in the area.
Loose change gets looser
6:15 p.m. — First Block of Slogan Court. Burglary Residence. A homeowner advised deputies that between 7:45 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., an unknown subject broke into his home and stole $30 in loose change from his master bedroom dresser drawer.
Forced entry was made through the front door. The decorative window on the front door was broken. The unknown subject used two 2-by-4 pieces of lumber nailed together to break the window. It appears he went in every room in the house because drawers had been opened, and lights were left on. The homeowner reported that only the loose change was missing.
Attempts to locate latent prints on the drawers met with negative results. The man’s home is the only home on a cul-de-sac and is not visible from any other homes in the area. He has an alarm system, but it is not connected. There are no suspects at this time.
April 23
Just making my one phone call, officer
10:19 p.m. — 100 Block of Palm Harbor Parkway. Narcotics. A deputy approached a vehicle at the European Village and spoke to the three teenage occupants. They advised there were no guns, knives, weapons or narcotics on them or in the vehicle.
The young girl gave the deputy permission to search the vehicle but said she needed to grab her phone. The teenager retrieved her phone from the center console and also retrieved a clear plastic baggy of marijuana and shoved it into her clothing.
The deputy told her to put her hands where he could see them. The deputy then conducted a search of the vehicle and located a small elephant-shaped pipe, commonly used for smoking marijuana, inside the center console. No other illegal items were located in the vehicle.
The young girl said she did not know who the marijuana belonged to, but it was not hers.
The other young man was placed in custody for possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.
SCHOOL BUS INCIDENT
April 27
Alcohol, bong on school bus
8:40 a.m. — 4500 Block of Belle Terre Parkway. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The dean of transportation at Buddy Taylor Middle School contacted deputies. He advised that he was investigating a complaint that some male students had alcohol on the bus, and, while conducting a search of the one of the male students, he found a glass bong.
In a verbal summation from the dean, the 12-year-old student brought a bottle of some sort of alcoholic beverage onto the Flagler County school bus and had two kids take a sip of it. It was left on the bus and was recovered by the school transportation personnel.
At the request of the school officials, a juvenile civil citation charging him with possession of paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor were signed by the assistant principal of the school. The bong, the bottle of alcohol, and the bus video will be entered into evidence.
