Window shopping
12:42 p.m. — 1600 Block of Lancewood Street. Burglary-Residence. A reporting party explained that he keeps watch over the residence of his neighbor, who lives out of state. On this date, he and his wife observed a small green car back into the driveway. He approached the vehicle, thinking that the driver may be interested in purchasing his truck, which was parked in the drive. The female inside began asking him questions, all while texting on her cell phone.
At the same moment, a loud noise came from the rear of the residence. When the reporting party walked back to investigate, he observed that the back door had been forced open and there was a broken window. By the time he returned, the woman in the green car had disappeared.
A witness later attested to seeing a similar-looking woman and a slender man pushing the same green car, which had become stuck in the sand, down Elder Street.
It is unknown at this time whether or not any items were taken from the residence. The homeowner was informed of the incident and stated he would attempt to return promptly to ascertain if any items are missing. Attempts to locate fingerprints were met with negative results.
Rings stolen from counter
10:49 a.m. — 200 Block of Ocean Crest Drive. Larceny. A victim stated that she went into a pool bathroom with her son to change him. She removed two rings from her finger and placed them on the counter next to the sink. By the time she was done, the rings were gone. She stated she did not see anyone and has no suspect information. There are no video surveillance cameras and no witnesses at this time.
The victim described the rings as gold with a diamond-like stone and a platinum wedding band, valued at $9,000 and $6,000, respectively.
April 14
Crown cash
10:51 a.m. — 4000 Block of Walnut Avenue. Larceny-Motor vehicle. A victim stated that she went to bed at approximately 12:30 a.m., getting up once in the night to take her dog out around 2 a.m. She stated there are two lights in the her front yard which are always on, and that she did not see or hear anyone in her yard while she was home. At approximately 8:30 a.m., she observed that her truck had been broken into.
The passenger’s side rear window, which had been broken previously and held on with duct tape, had been pried off. The only item missing from the vehicle was up to $100 in cash, which was kept in a Crown Royale bag. No fingerprints.
April 15
Tailgate trouble
2:42 p.m. — First Block of Burnham Lane. Criminal mischief. A victim advised that she had her vehicle parked outside of her residence. When she observed the vehicle, she found a curse word scratched into the back tailgate. There were also scratches made on the driver’s side front and rear doors. The estimated value to fix the paint is $500.
