Grab and go? I don’t think so
While shopping Nov. 6 at Publix, Angela Maria Teressa Santangelo Letteriello Matrisciano Mason was the victim of a distract-and-grab wallet theft. But being a healthy Italian woman, Mason was not going to stand by and watch.
She quickly ran in pursuit with a full grocery cart in tow. When the thief jumped in a car to make a getaway, Mason tried to blockade the car with her loaded cart; however, it did nothing to deter the perpetrator, who continued to back into it — three times. Assault charges are pending.
Nov. 10
Tag — you’re it!
11 a.m. — 5800 Block of East State Road 100. Property Lost. A deputy was dispatched to a car dealership in reference to a lost license plate. One of the salesmen was transporting a customer home and as they were driving, the dealer’s license plate came off the back of the vehicle somewhere between the dealership and Colbert Lane. They retraced their route but were unable to locate the tag.
Nov. 16
Hack job
11 a.m. — First Block of San Miguel Court. Fraud. A woman noticed money had been taken out of her business checking account. The woman stated the total amount taken was $852.31. This has happened in the past, and she said a man admitted to her that he has hacked into her account and taken money. She believes that this man has done the same thing again. The woman said she has had to cancel several accounts in the past because of this, and she said she is not doing it again. She canceled her debit card for the account but not the account itself. This woman is willing to pursue charges.
Nov. 17
No lock, no luck
8 a.m. — First Block of Porral Place. Larceny Motor Vehicle. A man observed his vehicle the night before this incident at approximately 6 p.m., and the vehicle was unlocked. When the man returned to the vehicle the morning of the incident, he observed someone had illegally entered his vehicle and stolen numerous items from inside. The man is now missing his GPS, which is valued at approximately $150. The man stated the only other items that were missing were approximately 20 CDs, which are valued at $100. The man does not know who could have done this and has no suspect information at this time.
Tag! No touchbacks!
1 p.m. — First Block of Port Lane. Property Lost. A man living in the P-section advised police that a Florida temporary tag with the expiration date of Dec. 4 fell off his 1991 Chevy Caprice sometime within two days of when the incident was reported. He believes it fell off on his way to work in Daytona.
Watch out for a thief with two rifles
1:17 p.m. — 100 Block of Laramie Drive. Burglary. A woman stated that she left her home for work approximately 7:45 a.m. and when she returned home at 1:17 p.m., she found her home had been burglarized. Entry had been made through prying a back door. A computer and two rifl es were stolen.
Police were unable to locate a serial number for the computer or one of the rifl es. They will be entered as stolen. The woman also stated the suspects had stolen a Coke from her refrigerator.
Some dirt tracks were left in the home, but there was no tread pattern or way to determine an approximate shoe size from the marks left. Deputies were unable to locate any tire marks in the yard. There are no suspects at this time.
