Feb 15
Strong Odor Aboard
1:01 a.m. — Palm Coast Parkway N.E. and Old Kings Road. Narcotics. A deputy observed a silver car traveling Eastbound approaching the I-95 South on-ramp. The vehicle was in the right lane when it abruptly swerved right, causing both passenger and side wheels to travel over the right fog lane. The license plate frame also partially covered the state’s name.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with male and female occupants. The deputy immediately detected a strong odor emitting from the vehicle and was able to identify through training and experience it as the odor of marijuana.
A search of the vehicle revealed a silver grinder containing a small amount of marijuana in the center dash console. Inside the vehicle on the back seat was a black purse containing a small plastic baggie that also contained a small amount of marijuana. The female advised that the purse belonged to her, but she had no knowledge that the marijuana was in there.
The marijuana field tested presumptive positive with a quick check field test kit. The male was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana under 20 grams and released with notice to appear. The female was verbally warned in reference to failing to maintain a lane of travel and having an obscured tag.
Feb. 15
“Elementary, My Dear Watson”
10:02 a.m. — One Thousand Block of Rymfire Drive. Larceny. A School Resource Officer at an elementary school was contacted in reference to a stolen cell phone. The teacher stated on Feb. 14, she placed her black iPhone valued at $199.99 on her desk.
The teacher further stated that the phone was gone when she went to grab the phone from her desk. The teacher and deputy attempted to find the phone using a location feature on the phone to negative results. The deputy contacted customer support who would not provide a serial number to the phone.
Feb. 15
Got It All In the Bag
5:32 p.m. — One Thousand Block of Palm Coast Parkway S.W. Larceny Shoplifting. A deputy responded in reference to a retail theft. The store’s loss prevention officer had a female suspect in custody.
The employee advised the suspect entered into the store and walked around before selecting a men’s style dress shirt and placed the shirt in a bag. The suspect then walked past all points of sale and exited the store. The suspect made no attempt to pay for the shirt.
Once the she left, the employee stopped the suspect, who was cooperative. The employee advised the shirt had a value of $40 and that there is video of the incident. The suspect was arrested for retail theft and trespassed from the property with a notice to appear in court.
Feb. 16
Calling All Suspects
1 a.m. — One Hundred Block of Cypress Point Parkway. Larceny. A deputy responded to a retail store in reference to a larceny. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a loss prevention officer (LPO).
The LPO stated that an employee of the store was observed around 3 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, by the surveillance system, taking two smartphones from a display case. The suspect relocated the devices to the back stock room where he hid them. At the end of the suspect’s shift, the suspect concealed the items in a backpack and left the store.
The retail store conducted an investigation and determined enough evidence existed to question the suspect. At this time, the LPO only wishes to pursue the theft of the 2 phones valued at $1,391.00. A receipt with total value of the property and video surveillance will be entered as evidence.
The suspect was then issued a trespass warning from the store and placed under arrest reference Grand Theft.
