Flagler County deputies responded to Lancelot Drive just after midnight on Saturday, July 27, after homeowners saw any attempted burglary occurring on their Ring video doorbell.

The caller was altered by her Ring Video Doorbell, where she observed a man wearing a black hoodie, long green pants and a Spider-Man handkerchief to cover his face attempting to break into her white Ford F250. The caller also observed the suspect then walk away from the vehicle and to the front door, out of the camera’s view.

Deputies arrived and saw a suspect matching the description, later identified as 19-year-old Emanuel Nixon, exit the wood line near La Mancha Drive and Lakeview Boulevard. Due to the similarity to the suspect’s description, Nixon was detained without incident.

When questioned by deputies, Nixon said he was coming from his grandmother’s home on Lindberg Lane and attempting to cut through the wood line to get to a friend’s house on London Drive. Nixon told deputies that he is currently on felony probation for breaking into cars in Lee County and that he did not want to get into more trouble.

Nixon provided verbal consent to be searched and deputies found a Spider-Man handkerchief, one black glove, one white latex glove, two cell phones, cigarettes, one cigarette lighter, $5 and a car charger for an iPhone.

Deputies obtained a copy of the Ring video doorbell footage and identified Nixon as the suspect. He was placed under arrest.

“Technology, an informed community, and good police work helped find this criminal,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “We encourage our residents to be proactive when it comes to protecting themselves and their homes. ”

Nixon was taken to the Flagler County Jail and charged with attempted burglary of a conveyance and attempted burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. He is being held without bond.
