After being asked, and refusing, to retire from her position as chief operating officer of the Florida Endowment Foundation for Florida’s Graduates, School Board member Colleen Conklin was fired, according to an update posted on her personal Facebook page.

The firing was in light of proposals Conklin made to the board during last Tuesday’s Sex Education Public Forum, to discuss the possibility of suing the state for insufficient education funding.

The Florida Endowment Foundation is funded primarily by state grants.

From Colleen Conklin’s Facebook page:
The Truth Shall Set You Free: Here a little TRUTH! Last thurs I was asked to resign from my position as the Chief Operation Officer from the Florida Endowment Foundation for Florida's Graduates, I refused. I was then FIRED! Why? Because I recommended that our school board DISCUSS the possibility of taking legal action against the state!

She also wrote:
I wasn't sitting on their Board. I was working for them as the Chief Operations Officer. It was a statewide non-profit with over a 1.5 million dollar budget. My salary was significant for me and my family.

A workshop is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, to discuss Conklin’s lawsuit ideas and aims.
