Authorities are investigating the vandalism of campaign signs belonging to a candidate for Flagler County Clerk of the Circuit Court, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Donna Heiss, campaign manager for candidate Ken Mazzie, reported Wednesday that about 100 campaign signs had been vandalized in different sections of Palm Coast. The sings were valued at $775.

Heiss told deputies that the vandalism began June 12 and occurred sporadically through Wednesday.

Deputies did obtain evidence at one vandalized site and are pursuing the investigation. The vandalism has occurred in the F, R, W and P sections.

Deputies said the damage consisted of the lower posts being cut off the signs.

“We are investigating this incident, and our deputies are working to prevent damage to any candidate’s sign,” Sheriff Donald Fleming said in a statement. “We will pursue charges against anyone who we identify in connection to campaign vandalism and I urge residents to report it.”

Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911.
