+ Imagine’s two new stories: $2.4 million investment
There’s a new building going up at Imagine School at Town Center. The building permit was for $2.4 million.
The two-story building will house a media center and science labs, in addition to making room for 400 new students.
The school will host an informational meeting 5:45 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Imagine School at Town Center, 775 Town Center Blvd. Open enrollment will be discussed at the meeting; parents may also ask questions of the builders and architects.
+ Bull’s-eye! Belle Terre takes second in archery
Students at Belle Terre Elementary and Indian Trails Middle schools recently traveled to a statewide archery tournament, in Newberry. Belle Terre earned second place.
Individual shooter Austin Voelbel placed third and qualified for the national tournament, in Louisville, Ky.
+ Imagine student maps out state geography win
Alexa Colson, a sixth-grade student at Imagine School at Town Center, won first place at the statewide Imagine School geography bee. She competed against students from 13 other Imagine schools.
+ Spelling bee buzz: more for Moore, at Imagine
Ivana Moore, who won the spelling bee at Imagine School at Town Center, also won the Flagler County spelling bee. At a recent statewide competition, she placed eighth.
Teachers Laura Sparrow and Cami Brocksmith organized the competitions at Imagine.
+ Carved watermelon takes third place

Pennington, of Matanzas High School, pushed his skills to the limit during the Edible Centerpiece Competition and took home a third-place finish at the 11th-annual ProStart Culinary Competition, hosted by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging.
All centerpieces had to be made of unbaked, edible pieces. Each student had 45 minutes to complete the centerpieces and was judged on knife skills, sanitation and appearance.
+ Compliments to FPC chefs: sixth place
Flagler Palm Coast High School culinary students also participated Saturday, March 12, at the 11th-annual ProStart Culinary Team Competition.
The team finished sixth out of 39 teams competing in the Gourmet Meal Competition and 16th in the Edible Centerpiece Competition.
Team members are Alex Weinlein, Corey Soberanis, Jonathan Esteras, Lake Black, Tim Dorego and alternate Meagan Hutchinson.
+ Teachers selected to represent county
Belle Terre Elementary reading teacher Catherine Ryan and Indian Trials Middle reading teacher Cara Cronk were chosen to represent Flagler County in the 2011 Just Read, Florida! Literacy Awards.
Old Kings Elementary reading teacher Dana Pasterjak was the elementary school runner-up.
