The Palm Coast City Council will revisit the fire flow fee system for users outside Palm Coast city limits at Tuesday’s workshop.
At a Sept. 27 workshop, the City Council established an additional fee of $2.33 on the utility bill for fire hydrant availability for residents who live outside of city limits.
The debate was that the county owed the city approximately $175,595 for not contributing for the past few years.
However, County Administrator Craig Coffey pointed out that if the county general fund is charged, Palm Coast residents would be double-taxed and other residents who are out of the service area would be charged unfairly.
The City Council last month resolved to simply begin collecting the fees now, and not try to collect the unpaid amount.
However, a court ruling in a similar case has city staff bringing the resolution back to City Council.
The City Council will also discuss its annual insurance contracts. Also, a resolution with the Florida Department of Corrections in the amount of $116,008 for the use of supervised inmate labor work crews.
The Palm Coast City Council will meet 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at City Marketplace.
