Christmas Come True to be recognized with Christmas in July proclamations

Nadine King's nonprofit has helped over 155 families with 441 children so far in 2019.

July will officially be Christmas in July Month in Flagler County, city of Bunnell, city of Flagler Beach and city of Palm Coast.

Nadine King, executive director of Christmas Come True, will be receiving proclamations from each municipality at the following schedule:

● Flagler Beach- City Hall in Flagler Beach - July 9 at 5:30 p.m.

● City of Bunnell - Coquina City Hall - July 13, 7 p.m.

● City of Flagler County-Government Building, July 13 at 9 a.m.

● City of Palm Coast – ( Virtual Presentation on Facebook)- July 21 at 9 a.m.

In 2019, Christmas Come True has helped over 155 families with 441 children, King said in a press release, as well as, over $12,000 for families in emergency situations in 2019. Those emergencies have compounded for many due to job loss, from impacts of COVID-19.

“Finding resources throughout the year has been an ongoing challenge for Christmas Come True," King said. "And now, the need has doubled as we face months of impact from the COVID19 crisis. We are so honored to have Flagler County and our local municipalities recognize the need and support Flagler County families by proclaiming July 'Christmas Come True Month.'"

According to the ALICE Report for Florida, in 2018, 46% of households still struggled to make ends meet.

Christmas Come True is a nonprofit established in 2009 to address many aspects of family poverty in Flagler County, including food distribution, financial assistance with housing, utilities, transportation, furniture, home goods and medical expenses.

Since 2009, the organization has provided a complete personalized Christmas experience for a total of 1,189 families with 3,390 children by providing a Christmas Dinner, new clothing, toys, gifts, and Christmas stockings filled with hygiene products and goodies. Over the past eight years, Christmas Come True has provided over $82,000 in a wide range of assistance throughout the year.
