Friday, June 1

San Diego artist returns to Ocean Art Gallery

When: 5-7 p.m.

Where: Grand Living Realty Design Center, 2298 Colbert Lane

Cost: Free

Details: Mixed-media painter Kari Powell will return to Flagler County to showcase her newest artwork in a gala reception. During the art opening reception, Powell will demonstrate her unique painting style, consisting of acrylic on panel with components of shell, sand and sea glass, while visiting with guests.

 

Monday, June 4

'Fun in the Sun' summer camp

When: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, June 4 to Aug. 3

Where: Palm Coast Community Center

Cost: $80 per week

Details: Fun-filled, themed activities such as arts and crafts, stories, recreational games, nature hikes, swimming and special guest presentations are planned for this camp for students in grades K-8 (grade just completed). Campers are eligible for the free lunch program provided by the Flagler County School District. Optional field trips are scheduled weekly for an additional fee. Students can be registered for one or multiple weeks. Call 986-2323.

 

Tuesday, June 5

Free nature/fitness walks

When: 8:30-9:30 a.m

Where: Palm Coast Community Center Trail Head, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE

Details: Explore the great outdoors through guided nature/fitness walks — offered free of charge by the Palm Coast Parks and Recreation Department on the first and third Tuesdays of each month from June 5 to Aug. 2. Preregister 48 hours in advance at https://www.palmcoastgov.com/register.

 

Wastewater Treatment Plant 2 Grand Opening

When: 4 p.m.

Where: the new sewer plant on Peavy Grade (west side of U.S. 1, about 2.9 miles north of Palm Coast Parkway and about a half mile south of Matanzas Woods Parkway)

Cost: Free

Details: The city of Palm Coast will hold a Grand Opening for its new Wastewater Treatment Plant 2. The public is invited to attend. A directional sign will be posted on U.S. 1 to guide attendees. Tours will continue through 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

 

Are you ready for an emergency?

When: 7:30-9 p.m.

Where: Hammock Community Center, 79 Mala Compra Road

Cost: Free

Details: Flagler County's Emergency Management Chief Jonathan Lord will present important information about emergency procedures, evacuation and other information that may save your life. Snacks and socializing begins at 7 p.m.
