Wednesday, Jan. 31

Public meeting about Whiteview Corridor

When: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: African-American Cultural Center, 4422 N. US 1, Bunnell

Cost: Free

Details: The city of Palm Coast will hold a public meeting to share details about proposed improvements to the Whiteview Parkway corridor (from U.S. 1 to Pritchard Drive). City staff recently conducted an analysis of the entire Whiteview Parkway corridor and identified potential projects to improve safety and efficiency on the roadway system. The objective of these projects is to benefit motorists and bicyclists/pedestrians. Contact City Traffic Engineer Sean Castello at 986-4758 or [email protected].

 

Skywarn Storm Spotter class

When: 6 p.m.

Where: Flagler County Emergency Operations Center, 1769 E Moody Blvd. # 3, Bunnell

Cost: Free, but registration required

Details: Flagler County Emergency Services and the National Weather Service will host the class. Those who participate in the class are eligible to become volunteer storm spotters and assist Emergency Services and the National Weather Service by reporting potentially hazardous weather events. Thursday, Feb. 1

Musical Munchkins

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: Frieda Zamba Pool classroom, 339 Parkview Drive

Cost: Free, but must pre-register at least 48 hours prior to the class at palmcoastgov.com/register.

Details: The child-with-parent class for preschoolers age 2-5 is an introduction to music, rhythm and movement that will give your child the chance to try various instruments. Last Thursday class before March 22. Call 986-2323.

 

Saturday, Feb. 3

“Longmire” Author Craig Johnson at University Women of Flagler event

Details: Craig Johnson is the New York Times bestselling author of the Longmire mysteries, the basis for the hit Netflix series “Longmire.” He will be the guest speaker at a western-themed fundraiser sponsored by the University Women of Flagler, which raises money for college scholarships for local, young women. Live music, line dance lessons, barbecue lunch, interview and book signing with Johnson, several vendors of western jewelry, paintings and accessories. Call 237-2035.

 

Silent Art Auction

When: 2-4 p.m.

Where: First Baptist Church of Palm Coast, 6050 Palm Coast Parkway

Cost: auction on art pieces

Details: The open house reception for the auction to benefit a team from the church that will go on the Dominican Republic Missions Project in the spring to build homes and deliver supplies for the impoverished. All artwork is being donated by local and out-of-state professional artists, including some members of the Flagler County Art League. Contact Colleen Fraser at 597-6866.
