Saturday, May 26

Annual pool safety day

When: 1-4 p.m

Where: Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool, 339 Parkview Drive

Cost: $1 for 17 years and under, and $2 for adults and seniors

Details: The pool will be open seven days a week starting May 26, the day of the city’s annual Pool Safety Day. Activities will include pool games and mini learn-to-swim classes, and information will be provided on water safety and basic first aid. No need to sign up in advance.

 

Monday, May 28

Palm Coast Memorial Day ceremony

When: 8 a.m.

Where: Heroes Memorial Park, 2860 Palm Coast Parkway NW

Cost: Free

Details: Guest speakers at the ceremony will be Flagler County Veteran Services Officer Lt. Col. (retired) David P. Lydon of the Flagler County Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, Edward Beier of American Legion Post 115 and Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland. Chaplain Sandy Ausbrooks of American Legion Post 115 offer the invocation.

 

Flagler County Memorial Day ceremony

When: 10 a.m.

Where: outside the Government Services Building, 1769 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell

Cost: Free

Details: The ceremony will feature American Legion State Commander Steve Shuga, who retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1995 after 20 years of service.

 

Memorial Day tribute

When: 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool, 339 Parkview Drive

Cost: Free with military ID

Details: The pool will be paying tribute to the troops in honor of current and retired military personnel and Gold Star families. Show your military ID for free admission.

 

Flagler Beach Memorial Day ceremony

When: 1p.m.

Where: Veterans Park, 101 Flagler Beach to Marineland Trail, Flagler Beach

Cost: Free

Details: Flagler Beach Mayor Linda Provencher Brigadier will introduce keynote speaker General Jonathan Hubbert, U.S. Army (retired). Matanzas High School U.S. Army JROTC will participate in the ceremony.

 

Tuesday, May 29

Ballroom dance classes

When: 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE

Cost: Free introductory class; $10 for each class after

Details: The classes will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays in June, July and August. An introductory session will be held Tuesday, May 29. Sessions will be held June 5 through July 10 and July 17 through Aug. 21. register at http://www.palmcoastgov.com/register.

 

Friday, June 1

Hurricane preparedness breakfast

When: 9-11 a.m.

Where: Hilton Garden Inn Palm Coast, 55 Town Center Blvd.

Cost: $20

Details: There will be presentations from these representatives and about the following topics: emergency manager from Volunteer Florida, Flagler County Emergency chief, local weather expert, long term recovery, volunteering before, during and after a disaster. The event hosted by Flagler Volunteer Services will include breakfast and a disaster preparedness bag. Ticket deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, May 25.

 

Saturday, June 2

Island Festival

When: noon to 8 p.m.

Where: Palm Coast Arts Foundation, 1500 Central Ave.

Cost: advanced tickets at $5 for kids and $10 for adults

Details: All with island flavor, the event includes food, live Island bands, clothing, soaps, accessories and more.
