Bunnell Elementary School was placed on code yellow warning at 3:20 Wednesday, March 7, according to a news release by Flagler Schools. Students were moved indoors while police activity was occurring outside the campus.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a suspicious person just off the Bunnell Elementary campus. This happened about 10 minutes before the end of the school day, so many parents were already lined up to pick up their children. School administrators were given the all-clear 30 minutes later when the person was located. Students were then released in an orderly fashion without any further incident.

"We want to thank our parents who patiently waited, as well as our teachers, staff, and students for quickly responding to the security status change," the release said. "This cooperation helped keep our students safe and out of the way of law enforcement as they conducted their business in the neighborhood surrounding the school."
