Bulldogs to rely on team chemistry for success.

Flagler Palm Coast lacrosse lost in the first round of the district tournament last season, placing third in the district and finishing the season 9-6.

Redistricting by the Florida High School Athletic Association moved FPC to Distirct 6 — a four-team district with St. Augustine, Pedro Menendez, and crosstown Matanzas.

Coach Ryan Andrews enters his sixth season with FPC.

The Bulldogs lost three seniors from last year’s team, but return three key players in the attack. Seniors Wes Adams (34 goals, 26 assists), Shane Noble (46 goals, 11 assists) and Cheyne Devens (14 goals, 21 assists) anchor the Bulldogs offense.

Fellow seniors Fred Kelly (defenseman) and Conor Bertha (goalie) lead the Bulldogs’ defense. Bertha had 102 saves last season.

Andrews hopes the chemistry among his players can help overcome the youth that has been infused into the roster.

“We had to pull up a lot of sophomores because of a lack of juniors in the program,” Andrews said. “To put them in this style of varsity lacrosse right away will be a huge change of pace for them.”

The team chemistry can combat the team’s youth, Andrews said.

“(Many of the players) have been playing together for six or seven years now and have a great bond,” he said.

In addition, Adams, Noble, and Devens — the team’s three primary offensive threats — have all-star abilities and have offers from schools at all different collegiate levels.

Adams received the North Florida Pre-Season 2nd Team All-American nomination.

“This district should be a promising year for FPC,” Andrews said.
