A bridge on County Road 305 opened Monday afternoon after the Flagler County Commission held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its construction.
The bridge, just south of the intersection of County Road 305 and Clove Avenue, is the sixth to be replaced along County Road 305 in a project designed to widen the road from 18 feet to 24 feet and bring it up to modern safety standards, according to a county news release.
“This project is about providing a safe route for our school children and to serve agricultural interest in Flagler County,” County Chair Nate McLaughlin said in the news release. “Few people realize that agriculture is a major economic factor still today in Flagler County.”
Construction on the bridge began in June. It was built by Orlando-based Sema Construction and cost about $1.3 million, according to the news release.
The entire County Road 305 project is expected to cost about $24 million to $25 million. About $23 million is being paid with state and federal grants, and another $1 million comes from local gas tax and impact fee funds.
$24 to $25 million. Most of the cost - $23 million - is being paid for out of State and Federal grants. Approximately $1 million of the work was paid for out of local gas tax and impact fee funds.
