Twenty-four Boy Scouts successfully earned their merit badges for engineering recently at a merit badge event hosted by the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the engineering firm of England-Thims & Miller, Inc.

The Scouts represented five different troops in the Three Rivers District. The Scouts completed all nine required activities to achieve their engineering badge in one day, including learning about engineering careers and educational requirements.

John Moden, engineering and stormwater director with the city of Palm Coast, dropped by to give the scouts his ideas on engineering careers and to encourage the Scouts to make the most of their educational opportunities.
